Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri recently celebrated National Volunteer Week by hosting our annual Mass and reception for active volunteers.
This special event provides an opportunity for our agency to connect with volunteers outside of their regular service and express our sincere gratitude for all they do.
This year’s celebration was held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Jefferson City.
Bishop Ralph B. O’Donnell presided at the Mass, with Monsignor Robert A. Kurwicki and Deacon Jim Haaf assisting in the Liturgy.
The Gospel acclamation shared during Mass was, “I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: love one another as I have loved you.”
Volunteers are truly the heart of Catholic Charities.
They generously share their time and talents in many ways.
Some serve at the front desk, offering a warm welcome to those who enter.
Others assist with scanning documents for family immigration services.
Many dedicate their time in the food pantry — stocking shelves or helping distribute food four days a week.
Some volunteers deliver monthly food boxes to participants in Cole County, while others lend a hand in maintaining our community garden.
There are countless ways to get involved and make a meaningful impact.
We are deeply grateful for each volunteer and the unique gifts they bring in service to our neighbors.
Whether someone is able to help weekly, monthly, or occasionally, every contribution makes a difference.
If you are interested in learning more about our agency, I warmly invite you to stop by for a tour.
New volunteers can also access onboarding information through our website.
Catholic Charities is able to support those in need because of the generosity of our volunteers and donors.
It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated individuals and to learn from each of them.
United in faith and brought together to serve, we are Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri.
