Clear skies and beautiful weather greeted people from all over Missouri and beyond at this year’s MidWest March for Life on April 30 on and all around the State Capitol grounds in Jefferson City. Speakers reminded the marchers about the importance not only of voting pro-life — including voting yes on Nov. 3 on Amendment 3, which would restore lawfully enacted safeguards for women and their unborn babies — but also having important conversations with anyone who will listen, including the people they love. Bishop James V. Johnston Jr. of Kansas City-St. Joseph presided and preached the homily at the Closing Mass in the Proto-Cathedral of St. Peter, near the Capitol. He urged everyone to defend the inviolable sanctity of human life, including the unborn, including at the ballot box. “We can also proclaim the infinite mercy of Jesus to those who have been wounded, to those who carry the heavy weight of guilt from shedding innocent blood,” said Bishop Johnston. “Jesus’s mercy is greater than any sin.” (276 photos)
