PHOTOS: Blessing of the Animals in Taos

Students and friends of St. Francis Xavier School in Taos gather outside the parish church with Father Michael Penn, pastor, for a prayer service and blessing of pets and other animals on Oct. 5, the day after St. Francis of Assisi’s feastday. Visiting animals ranged from horses to hamsters, with dogs of all sizes, a few cats and even a ferret and a chicken. Properly restrained, they all got along well together. (67 photos)
